Melanie Koehler, APRN, CNS

Melanie co-founded Garden City Psychiatry, LLC and she is a Board Certified Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist providing psychiatric evaluation and prescription services to patients in addition to training other healthcare professionals.

She conducts comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnosis, utilizing various therapeutic modalities. Melanie currently serves as a Graduate School Adjunct Instructor at the University of Rhode Island’s College of Nursing.

She has offered her services to a variety of organizations such as: NRI Community Services in Woonsocket, Angell St. Psychiatry in East Greenwich, Wellone Primary Medical and Dental Care in North Kingstown, SSTAR and AdCare RI both in North Kingstown, RI as well as Ocean State Addiction Medicine in Cranston.

Melanie received both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing with a dual degree in Gerontology and Mental Health from the University of Rhode Island. She is an ANCC Board Certified Clinical Specialist in both Adult Psychiatric and Mental Nursing as well as Gerontological Nursing.

Melanie Koehler is a 2011 recipient of the NRI Community Services, Community Champion Award as well as the 2004 recipient of the Rhode Island State Nurse’s Presidential Award for Leadership.

She has served on numerous non-profit boards, chaired the Rhode Island Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist Counsel from 2002-2005. Since 2001 she has been a board member of the Darren McPeak Memorial Scholarship Fund Annual Golf Tournament and is past chair of the Koehler Family Children's Alopecia Project Fundraiser.
